General Information

What services do you offer for personal tax preparation?

We offer comprehensive Personal and Sole Proprietorship Tax Declarations, covering services for employees, dependants, self-employed individuals, small businesses, rental income, foreign employment, and more.

What are the deadlines for personal tax filing?

February 19, 2025: CRA’s NETFILE service for 2024 tax returns becomes available.

March 1, 2025: Last day to make an RRSP contribution for the 2024 tax year.

April 30, 2025: Last day to file a 2024 income tax return without a late-filing penalty for those without self-employment income.

June 15, 2025: Last day to file a 2024 income tax return without a late-filing penalty for those with self-employment income. However, if you or your spouse or common-law partner carried on business in 2024 relating primarily to a tax shelter investment, the filing deadline is April 30, 2025

April 30, 2025: is the payment deadline for any balance owing. Even if you have a self employment or sole proprietorship business.

Instalment Payments: due on March 15, June 15, September 15,  December 15 in 2025

What documents are required for personal tax preparation?

A personalized list of required documents will be sent after booking an appointment.

How can I submit my tax documents to you?

Documents can be uploaded via our secure portal, Intuit Link, or brought to your in-office appointment.

Is there a deadline for submitting these documents?

Yes, please submit documents at least 5 days before your scheduled appointment.

Appointments and Meetings

How do I book an appointment with you or your team?

Appointments can be booked via our scheduling tool at calendly.com/jaaccounting.

Can I choose between a Zoom meeting and an in-office appointment?

Yes, you can select your preference for an in-person or online meeting when booking your appointment.

What should I expect during the initial tax consultation?

An initial consultation is not usually necessary unless you have a complex tax declaration. For such cases, please email us at [email protected].

Fees and Payment

How are your fees for personal tax preparation calculated?

Our base fee is $60 per person. Additional fees apply for each employment income and tax slip. Rates for self-employment, sole proprietorship, and rental income vary. For specifics, please email us.

What are the terms for the advance payment?

A non-refundable deposit is required when booking. This deposit secures your appointment and will be applied toward your final invoice, with the remaining balance due on your appointment date.

When is payment due for tax preparation services?

The remaining balance (minus the deposit) is due on the day of your appointment or when your tax is filed.

Tax Filing Process

How long does it take to prepare and file my taxes?

Taxes will be ready by your appointment date, provided all documents are submitted 5 days in advance.

Will I be informed of potential tax deductions and credits?

Yes, we will review all relevant deductions and credits during your appointment.

How can I track the progress of my tax preparation?

We provide updates via email and our secure portal.

After Filing

What happens after my taxes are filed?

You will receive an Express Notice of Assessment from the CRA, followed by the official Notice of Assessment after review.

How will I receive confirmation of my tax filing?

We will send you copies of your T1 General and TP1 General (for Quebec residents) after filing.
